   I am an adult collector of dolls of all shapes, types, and sizes and I’ve been collecting since I was a child. I must say that I was very excited to welcome Jilly Bing to our doll family. I had heard of Jilly Bing before when doing research about multicultural dolls because I like to have representation in my collection. However, I waited to get her because she is on the more expensive side when it comes to 14 inch dolls. Jilly Bing is ABSOLUTELY worth her price tag. What you get is the doll dressed in a 3 piece outfit (including underwear) with shoes, a hat that turns into a little tart friend, two bandana pieces that can make a floor mat, and a comb. The inside of her box also duplicates as a little play kitchen which is cute and unique although I didn’t keep it. Her hair comes in a ponytail with a braid, but I took the ponytail out to play with her hair. Her hair is SO silky, maybe the silkiest doll hair I’ve every felt. Her body is made from vinyl that is very smooth and almost soft to the touch, but it isn’t squeezable. Her arms and legs don’t bend. I wanted to compare her to other 14 inch dolls that I have including 2 Madame Alexander dolls, a Wellie Wisher, and a Glitter Girl (older style that is similar to Jilly because the arms and legs do not bend like the newer style ones). Jilly seems to be ever so slightly shorter than the other dolls, but otherwise she is proportionate. Her face size is more like the Madame Alexander ones (pictured on the ends of the line in my photos). Since she doesn’t have a line of clothing, I wanted to see how she fit in both the Glitter Girls clothing and the Wellie Wisher clothing. Glitter Girls was a bit snugger on her and harder to get on, but they work! The Wellie Wisher clothing was very easy to put on her and fit her better than the Glitter Girl outfit I tried on. Shoes for both Wellies and Glitter Girls fit her fine. I absolutely am in love with Jilly Bing. Her expression makes me so happy and I’m very glad to have an authentic Asian doll in my doll family. She is worth every penny.

   This is an absolutely adorable doll, meant to be marketed towards little ones of Asian decent & I really love that! I myself am just a white adult doll collector but am still so excited to be given the opportunity to review Miss Jilly Bing here! First off, she appears to be really good quality, definitely similar to American Girl Wellie Wisher dolls. Her hair is ridiculously soft! It is rooted but it is very even & very thick. Her clothes are good quality, with the shirt & dress being separate & not awkwardly connected like some doll clothes can be. Her little tennis shoes are also cute & easy to take on & off with little velcro tabs. I love that she comes with 2 kerchiefs that can double as a blanket. Her little pillow is cute too & is reversible & can be flipped into her little chefs hat. Her box can also be repurposed into a little cardboard kitchen, which is also great! Overall this is a really great doll & I would highly recommend her! Mine arrived with the slightest head tilt which makes her even more endearing to me. I have her pictured here with the American Girl Wellie Wisher Gwen & the Ruby Red Fashion Friends doll Lila, which are also supposed to be Asian themed dolls, to give some reference for other doll collectors.

   Jilly is beautiful. I am a doll collector and I had to have her after I found out about her. I love that her packaging doubles as a playset. I would have adored a doll like Jilly as a child. Her hair is soft and can be styled. Her plastic is more like a vinyl and is a little more squishable than other 14″ dolls which I think makes her a better companion for a small child.

   The box has a cute design and makes the doll look appealing. The inside of the box can be pulled out and used as a kitchen. This is a cute feature! There is a top cupboard and an oven on the bottom. The included hat/treat is cute and it does fit and stay on her head. The treat can be put around one hand for her to hold. The 2 bandanas can fit together to make a picnic blanket. Another outfit piece would have been better than these bandanas. The doll has 3 points of artuculation: head, shoulders, and hips. The fabric on her outfit feels cheap and the panties have stained her waist and butt. Mine has an unraveling thread on the jumper. The front pocket is usable. Her hair feels very soft and like nylon. The shoes have velcro and they can be easily removed. She has detailed feet. The included pink comb is plastic. Overall, this doll is really cute. Hopefully the line expands to include more clothes and dolls. A fair retail price would be around $35.

   I was so happy to give Jilly Bing to my niece and she was beyond happy to receive her. She loves having a doll that looks like she’s part of the family. Jilly is the doll Asian-American girls have been waiting for generations for and the quality is top-notch. Thanks to the Jilly’s creator!
