   Kendall is a quality doll with cute outfit.I love her little boots the most. This picture shows her in a different outfit (but it’s the only one I caught her in…and as you can see…the owner is in perpetual motion). I purchased some clothes from several sites on DollsByDorcel that are geared for 14 in dolls. Clothing changes are difficult for 3 year olds, but definitely a thing my granddaughter will enjoy soon enough.

   I saw the cute doll, liked it and purchased it for my 3 year old Granddaughter for her Christmas. It’s the right size, the Quality is good, definitely worth it. It a good buy for toddlers.

   I own the older version and now this one. Overtime, the hair will lose the shape, but the hair is great quality and doesn’t tangle easy like other brands and make sure you use the wire brushes that are meant for their hair and spray just a little water (not a lot) and you can style the hair. Have you ever been to the store and got their hair done, this is the trick I learned to make the hair look new again! I’ve been buying American Girl dolls for the past 10 years as my older daughter loved their dolls and we still have them. Now my 3 year old is getting to enjoy all things American Girl and loves all the accessories. There’s nothing like the quality of these doll compared to others brand trust me. In fact it’s the only brand I buy now because they are just better quality and last forever and have good resale value and my daughters favorite brand of dolls, so I just make the investment on these. These are smaller than the bigger A&G dolls and are all plastic but the detail in the face is so cute and the quality of the clothes is above other brands. These are good for smaller kiddos for sure because they are thinner and smaller, but my older daughter favored the softer body of the bigger dolls. My daughter uses this as the bigger A&G little sister so you get a lots of play.

   This review is of the new style (2021) Kendall doll. I also have a Willa doll, which I purchased years ago when the dolls first came out, and gave a Camille to a young family member. Those are both the old style dolls. Well, I wish I had waited! What has changed? The most obvious change is the outfits that the dolls come in. The new outfits are more fanciful and playful. But I have to admit, as an adult, I prefer the softer, plainer, and more realistic clothing of the past. To me, the new outfits aren’t an improvement. But you can always get or make different clothes. The most significant update is with the dolls themselves. The original dolls had hard plastic torsos with visible seams. Please see the photo showing the necks of old-style Willa (on the left) and new-style Kendall. With this old style, many people found that the dolls’ legs were breaking off. American Girl has changed the dolls substantially, so that now the torso (which used to oddly be a hard plastic that didn’t match the rest of the doll’s vinyl) is vinyl, too, like the rest of the doll. It makes me wonder why they didn’t make them like this in the first place, but this is a wonderful change that makes them look more like a quality doll. Not only that, but the change in style has allowed the dolls to sit more nicely, as shown in the photo. Again, the Willa doll is the old-style doll, and Kendall is new. I was happy to see that the dolls still have wigs, which makes them nicer quality than rooted hair dolls. WellieWishers also have a video series and books. As someone who knew American Girl in the “good old days” of Pleasant Company when the dolls went with books, I’d recommend giving the book series by Valerie Tripp a look. It has the pleasant (pun intended) feel of the old books and company. I’m so happy the dolls have been improved, and hopefully they’ll now be heirloom quality, just like the dolls for older girls. While the clothing is a step down in my book, I’m still giving Kendall five stars due to this considerable construction improvement that just really overall makes these look and feel like nicer dolls.

    I purchased because this was on my daughter’s Santa list but these dolls are not quality dolls for those prices. The hair is synthetic and not in a good image of women of color. She’s is pretty but hair is terrible and one of few out of the color selections.
